Spring Has Us Busy

From the annual cemetery cleanup to flower baskets built by MCHS welding students β€” a look at what Beautify Marengo volunteers have been up to around Marengo this spring.

Annual Cemetery Cleanup

Every spring, Marengo's cemetery gets the care it deserves. This year's cleanup cleared out winter debris, tidied edges, and left the grounds in great shape for the families and community members who visit throughout the season.

Calvin Spencer Park β€” Mulch & Tree Trimming

Calvin Spencer Park got a noticeable refresh this spring. Fresh mulch was laid throughout the park and volunteers trimmed back trees that had grown in over the winter. It's the kind of upkeep that keeps the park looking great and safe for families all year.

Flower Bed Prep at the Welcome Signs

Marengo's welcome signs have long been a point of pride, and this spring we made sure the surrounding beds are ready to bloom. Volunteers raked out the old mulch to open up the soil and give spring flowers room to push through.

Flower Baskets β€” Built by Community Hands

One of our most exciting projects this year: a new set of hanging flower baskets heading to downtown Marengo. Students from MCHS's welding program fabricated the metal brackets β€” a standout contribution from the next generation of Marengo tradespeople. Volunteers then assembled and planted each basket by hand. They'll be going up soon and they're going to look great lining the downtown streets.

Police Station Cleanup

The grounds around the Marengo Police Department got some much-needed attention too. Volunteers worked through the area pulling weeds and clearing debris, giving the property a clean, polished look that the whole department can take pride in.
